Emotional Torture in Relationships

Samson as a case study 

Then she said to him, "How can you say, 'I love you,' when you won't confide in me? This is the third time you have made a fool of me and haven't told me the secret of your great strength." With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was tired to death. Judg. 16:15-16NIV

Take note of the ground upon which Delilah exploited Samson to his own death; he loved her and she knew it. When she undertook that assignment from the enemies of Samson, they knew that she will surely succeed because Samson loved her. Observe that she did not pick up a knife or gun, but employed nagging as a weapon. She had an agenda to kill him because she did not value him. She said that Samson made a fool of her because he managed to remain safe for a few days longer. The love was a one-sided love; Delilah did not love Samson and we do not need to flog that issue.

It is a pity that there are many people who are into relationships with someone who does not feel for them the same way they felt for the loved. Unfortunately, there is no way to read their mind. It is also very unfortunate that the person in love is blinded by their emotional attachment to the one they love. Unsuspecting persons have fled from the care of those who loved them into the arms of those who hated them enough to kill them.

 Like the case of Samson, these people may be currently bound in a marriage relationship. There was the case of a Christian woman whose husband forced her finger between their iron door and cut it off. Her pastor’s wife told her to leave the house for a time but she refused claiming that she loved him dearly. The man eventually killed her. There was another case of a pastor whose wife’s behavior was undermining his ministry. She often went to church late and by her negative attitude drove away some members of the church. Incidentally they lived in the hometown of the woman. That meant that he repeatedly reported her to her parents but their counsel fell on deaf ears. On a particular occasion, the woman did not turnout for midweek evening service but stayed back in her business place to trade. After the service, the pastor went again to report to her parents, who told him to go and call her. When he got to her stall, she started badmouthing him and in anger he struck her with his fist and she dropped down and died. I don’t know whether he is out of the prison yet.

HOW TO HANDLE SUCH A SITUATION

We will start by saying that there are people who did not have an original intention to torture their partner. The truth is that they are just being them self. That is the way they behave and no matter how you advise them, they are not able to change. That does not change the fact that they are torturing their partner. It could be a cooking or eating manners; it could be in dress code or other human mannerisms but the other party finds it repulsive. Children could behave in ways that torture their parents because they are not following the right paths of life. This has resulted in heartbreak and in some cases, premature death through heart failure. By this we are also calling on the attention of my reader to be mindful of your behavior towards those who love you. You may be killing them gradually. I have met widows who now live in regret because they know that their behavior led to the death of their husband. A young man who is currently jobless and into drug addiction wept before me as he said, “If only I listened to my pastor while he was alive. Now he has died and my life is messed up like this”. Unfortunately, he learned his lessons when it was too late.

For the victims in this kind of situation, my candid advice is that, if it is possible, the other party should find a way to adjust their mind. This is because you will never find a perfect person anywhere. Through prayers and the support of the Holy Spirit, you will be able to move on.

It is needful to mention here that some of these offensive behaviors are inspired by demons. At the time of writing this article, we are talking of the case of a wealthy man who was murdered by his son. The young man had been known for drug abuse. His reason for killing his father was because he did not buy him a beautiful car. My brief time in the deliverance ministry has brought many of such cases my way.

What I mean is that if the issue on hand is like the case of Samson and Delilah where the other party has proven himself or herself a mortal enemy, I will strongly advise you to consider a permanent solution to keep both of you alive. The step you may need to take may be a difficult one, but you need to be alive to explain yourself. I want to say this without the fear of controversy, if you are currently in a life-threatening marital relationship, please leave for some time. If you notice some quire dangerous attitude in someone you are in a relationship with, do not wait to verify. Take some break to allow your mind to think freely.

We are not told how samson met Delilah but I have often told young people not to seek a serious relationship with someone who does not like your tribe, your job or your religion. Delilah was a Philistine woman and Samson was an enemy to the Philistines and the only reason he was alive in Delilah’s family house was because all the efforts they made to kill him had failed. We cannot be sure that one of Delilah’s relations was not among the one thousand Philistines Samson had killed with a jaw bone.

If you propose to a lady and she says something like, “I told myself that I will never marry someone like or from …. ( eg. Pastor or Igbo man) .. or any such thing. My candid advice is that you do not make further effort to win the person over. I know very good servants of God who got married to women they managed to persuade that way and I cannot remember any of the marriages that ended well.

Read people’s behavior and when they give an indication that they do not like you or hate something about you, do not stay around to change their mind. You can do that from a safe distance. If your spouse, son or daughter begins to show violent life-threatening tendencies, take it as a statement from them. Three times Samson woke up from his sleep to find that Delilah had attempted the things she believed would reduce him to a weak man, yet he kept staying in the same house with her.

Let me add that, before you take a final decision about this matter, make out time to discuss the issue with the other party to explain how you feel. If he continues, you can talk to the pastor of your church or someone they respect. Unfortunately, there are people who are in marriages without being duly married and they do not belong to any local church. Such people are lost when they find themselves in such conditions. It is not true that third parties should not be involved in marriage matters. God was the third party in Adam’s marriage to Even, and that was the first marriage. The wrong notion that there should not be a third party in marriage matters have destroyed many Samsons in the houses of Delilah, because they died in silence.

I like to warn against the kind of counsels you listen to.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. Ps 1:1-2NIV

We have cases of young women who sought counsels from aging prostitutes, witchdoctors and fake prophets and they made matters worse. That is one of my strong reasons to advise you to have a relationship with a mature servant of God, who you can run to when you find yourself in this kind of situation. No matter how anointed a preacher is, do not trust serious marriage matters to him if he is not married, or if he has to listen in the spirit to guide you about your relationships. It is not a safe formula.

That will bring us to these vital matters.

Your lifestyle will determine where you meet your connections. If you are the kind of person who is not committed as a Christian and visit nightclubs and gambling centers, I bet your spouse will come from those circles. Taking jobs in sin centers will only expose you to sinners. You never chose your parents or siblings; you only have the privilege to chose your friends and spouse. Do it wisely.

A disciplined prayer lifestyle and commitment in the things of the Lord, will protect you if you find yourself in that kind of unfortunate condition.

A life of covenant with God will surely be a wall of protection around you. Pay your tithe, be engaged in soul-winning ventures and serve God with any opportunity you find. I can assure you that the Lord will defend you when you need Him. Serve God in truth.

This another side of this matter which we cannot discuss here. And that is Soul-Tie. Some people will gladly leave but they are bound to that person through an ungodly soul-tie.

MY CASE IS DIFFERENT

TRUMPET OF GOD’S DELIVERANCE

I have great news from the Lord Jesus Christ for you in this new month. 

When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies. Also at your times of rejoicing — your appointed feasts and New Moon festivals — you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the Lord your God."  Num 10:9-10NIV

It is a hard thing to confess but it needs to be told; many children of God are currently being oppressed in the land and territories that God has given them. The bible even said that some children of God are currently living in lands that are sick, hence they need healing. 2 Chron. 7:14.

It is not always true that the reason you do not have peace in your marriage is because your spouse is not God’s will for you. It is not always true that the reason your business is not doing well is because it is not where God wants you to be. I have met people who have moved from city to city and from country to country looking for greener pastures. Unfortunately, they suffer the same thing in every new city they moved to. The fact is that some enemies have been following them about to oppress them in the land God has given to them.

Sigh!

Take note that we are supposed to go to war against the enemies that are oppressing us. We are not to fold our hands while we sit in a corner blowing our trumpet. We ought to engage the enemies and the kind of enemies will determine the way we engage them.

If they are demons, we engage them through warfare prayers.

The enemies of ignorance and lack of knowledge in a particular field of interest, are to be engaged through the discipline of reading and attending classes in the area.

If they are enemies called poverty and lack, we are not supposed to use only prayers. The bible tells us how to engage them.

You will again obey the Lord and follow all his commands I am giving you today. Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The Lord will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers, Deut. 30:8-9NIV

First step is to walk in obedience to God’s commandments.   Then, you attack poverty and lack by getting your hands into some kind of enterprise and the Lord will in His own place, prosper the works of your hands. If you are already involved in something but you are not seeing any results,  God will speak to you clearly this season.  Stay tuned to the Spirit 

For those in the ministry; as a servant of God, you do not only spend all the time on the mountain for warfare prayers, you need to launch out on outreaches, crusades and sharing of tracts in your neighborhood. Social media is a very effective platform to reach millions of souls. Instead of posting worldly contents, sports and politics online, use the platform to spread the gospel and tell the world about your ministry.

Why do we need to blow the trumpet?

The sound of the trumpet is to bring our God into the matter.

What I want to tell you is that this month will be a very busy one for us because we are going to war against all the enemies that oppress us in the land our God has given to us. The Holy Spirit does not deceive us; we are told that enemies will rise up to oppress us. They will employ different methods and use different channels. Some of these enemies are very powerful and we cannot engage them in our own power. That is why we have to blow our trumpet. We blow our trumpet to invite our God into the conflict. 

Someone could argue; why would God wait for us to invite Him?

That is the order.

That is the due process.

God created you a free moral being and He only gets involved in the matters you invite Him to.

It is not only in battles that we need to blow our trumpets. Our main text says that we also need to blow our trumpet to invite Him to our feasts and sacrifices. That means our church and fellowship services. 

Verse 8 of our text chapter says that it is the duty of the priests to blow the trumpets. In a sense this speaks of the pastors and those vested with the spiritual responsibility to mobilize the children of God.

Wait a minute! There is one great news for every one of us.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9NIV

You don’t have to wait for anyone to sound the trumpet for you. As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are a royal priesthood.

Praise God!

To blow our trumpet also means to shout out the praises of our God. If you have a trumpet, blow it. If you do not have one, use your voices and sing praises to God in this month. When you begin to sing praises and declare the mighty works and wonders of our great God, the Lord will step in and will deliver you. It is a promise from our trustworthy God. 

I need to remind  you of this.

At the Door of Hope Christian Center, Port Harcourt, we placed it at 8 – 9 PM every evening. We assemble to blow our trumpet to our God. The trumpet of God’s deliverance.

Yes, He promised to rescue, deliver or save us from those enemies that want to oppress in the land the Lord has given to us.

You can choose your own time in your country, but the important thing is that you blow your trumpet.

01 IS IT POSSIBLE TO HEAR FROM GOD TODAY?

 Is It Possible to Hear from God Today? 1

Does God still speak to people today as in bible days? The answer is yes. 

Can anybody, I mean any human being, irrespective of his religion or denomination hear the voice of God? The answer is Yes. 

Why then is it that not many people can boldly confess to have heard from God? That is why we are making this journey on this meditation. 

Many Christians have suffered some casualty because they are not able to hear from God. Some out of ignorance have heard from the devil and erroneously ascribed it to God and so suffered for it. There are people who just close their eyes for few seconds and then open the bible to any page and claim that as God’s message to them. In as much as that is not totally wrong, why should one seek the audience of a living being like God like that? Why should a child of God seek the opinion or audience of his living heavenly father as some operate with a gambling machine?

It is needful that we understand that every Christian should have a natural appetite and desire to hear from God. To put it in another way, it is not possible to find a genuine child of God who does not have a strong desire to hear God speak to him or her. Before we got born again, there is something in us that was not working and that is what I call “the Life of God”. That Life of God is the inherent nature of God which man possessed at creation as the breath of God entered him. When man sinned against God at the Garden of Eden by choosing to disobey God at the suggestion of the devil, that life of God suffered a major blow and died. At the point of salvation, that thing comes alive again. The spirit nature of man resurrects and begins to strive to relate with like spirits. Remember that man was made in the likeness and image of God. The result of this is the questions newly born again people ask.

What do I do next?

How do I overcome temptations?

How do I pray?

How do I read and understand my bible?

How can I serve God in the right way?

And most importantly, how do I hear the voice of God?

If anyone that claims to be a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ does not have these kind of questions bubbling up in him or her, there is every strong reason to doubt that the person is really born again. Hence we can deduce that every genuine child of God deliberately sets his or heart to know and try to hear God’s voice. Most people who may not ask still have the question in their heart but do not know how to communicate it. 

That is also why many believers run here and there looking for prophets that will tell them what God has for them. Unfortunately, some church denominations do not see the need to give attention to this subject. Instead they focus on empty theology and arguments about bible terminologies.

When the believer is not able to connect and relate with God the temptation is to conclude that God does not exist. The truth is that most so-called atheists are only expressing their frustration in their inability to hear from God. They will really be glad to hear from Him and when they eventually do, the results is the many books of testimonies of life encounter with God. In some cases, evil spirits take advantage of some people and they begin to hear from demons.

In this meditation my intention is to guide my reader to recognize and hear God speak.

12 PITFALLS THAT RUIN MIMISTERS OF THE GOSPEL WHO ARE DOING OTHER SECULAR JOBS OR BUSINESSES

I am led to write these down for you, so your ministry assignment will succeed because you have learned to avoid the things that kill the ministry of ministers who are employed in secular jobs or who are engaged in secular businesses.

Most people erroneously believe that working under somebody is more difficult than being self-employed. The truth is that you need more discipline when you are your own boss and greater responsibility is required of you. The problem however is that there

is nobody to demand accounting from you or to compel you to achieve.

If you have somebody over you, the person will put you under pressure and express disappointment if you neglect your duties. On the reverse, when you are your own boss, you can procrastinate for as long as you wish and nobody will place a demand on you. The result is that the ministry will die and such persons will say that their ministry failed because GOD DID NOT CALL THEM.

Most people who are earning peanut from paid jobs would have achieved more if only they disciplined themselves to build their own private enterprises. Absence of this self-discipline is the reason why most pioneer ministry works and private businesses suffer and eventually fail.

I want your rapt attention here!

How do you avoid seeing the work of the Lord suffer in your hands?

1. Respect the ministry work in your hand. That means to treat it as important. You cannot treat it as important if you don’t consider it so. Many people see ministry assignment as part time and at the end of the day, they don’t allocate a particular amount of time to it

2. Understand your assignment. Soul winning and building the Body of Christ is very important to God. Ministry is not one of the activities of your day or one of the businesses one can spend time on. Ministry is God’s mandate for your life to reach mankind. There is no amount of money you can give to God that He will take in the place of one soul. Ministry means to co-labor with God for soul winning

3. Allocate specific time to the work of the ministry. Just as we said earlier, if you treat ministry with respect you will have the time set aside for it. When that time comes, you must show that you respect your ministry work by turning down every other distraction to turn over to the ministry assignment

4. Set up your office structure for the ministry. This does not only mean in the sense of a building or rented office. If you meet with a team of even one person in your house, see it as office. Let there be spelt out goals for this team when you meet and remember to discuss those goals

5. Have material proof that you have a ministry such as, NAME, NESWLETTERS, TRACTS, BOOKS, FELLOWSHIP DAYS and MEETING TIME AND PLACE

6. Don’t neglect fiscal budget for the ministry. You have to decide the amount of money you are setting aside for your ministry work and the sources of such monies. It does not matter whether you have it now or not. Most ministries die because the minister only commit an amount of money to it from what is left over from other expenses. So if there is no left overs, then ministry has to wait. This will kill your ministry.

7. Create periodic report of how far you are reaching at the goals of your ministry. It does not matter how small, let there be the reports.

8. Submit your reports to the one you are accountable to. Whether you are doing independent work or you are heading a chapter or branch of a bigger organization, discipline yourself to submit your report. There is one challenge here if you are independent; nobody has the right to demand you give an account if you don’t decide to submit it yourself

9. Don’t build team with people who are too preoccupied with their own vision or those who see you as their meal ticket but not willing to grow. In fact, if you can afford it, employ one or two staff you can command. They are better than volunteers you cannot hold to account

10. Appreciate your team when they do well. Ask questions about their welfare and pray and counsel them. There is nothing wrong with assisting financially if you have but don’t waste resources on people who are not eager to grow. That is also why you have to organize periodic training and teaching for them. Once you observe a sign of deliberate insubordination, relieve that person. Rather work alone than work with a rebel. No amount of service he can give that will make up for the damage he will cost you the day he leaves.

11. Let the senior minister you are submitting to know by your attitude that you are listening to him. You do this by repeating the instructions he gave to you in your last meeting and explaining how you were able to go with it. You can also do this by sending him questions about issues you are facing in the ministry. You can also send your tithe and seed faith either monthly or as the Lord blesses you. If you don’t, he may loss you in the midst of other activities

12. Keep going for training; keeping studying and attend conferences from different areas. These will keep you fresh and update. But remember to let your mentor know of new teachings you get from other sources. Upcoming ministers have suffered spiritual derail because of some poison gotten from wrong sources.

AGAINST THE TRUTH

03 THEY ALL MET HIM AT THE CROSS 

Against the truth

The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man." Luke 23:47NIV

And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!" Mark 15:39 NIV

This centurion also met Jesus Christ at the cross. A centurion is a senior army officer who has a hundred other officers directly under his command. He is the equivalent of a Captain in the Nigeria army. Take note of the clause Matthew applied in his own account, “who stood there in front of Jesus…” That is a professional term. He was standing there as a call to duty. If he was such a high-ranking military officer, then it was his underlines who molested the Lord Jesus Christ; it was his boys who beat Jesus; it was his boys who tore His cloths; it was his boys who put the crown of thorns on His head; it was his boys who blindfolded Him, struck Him and asked Him. “Prophet, tell me who struck you?”

Finally, it was soldiers under him who nailed the Lord to the cross and pushed the cross to a standing position. He stood there that day as a seal of the government’s approval for the gruesome murder of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was the senior army officer who was in charge of the killing of a righteous man from whose blood, even the governor, Pilate, had washed his hands. (Matt. 27:19). It is even safe to say he watched the governor wash his hands and the righteous man was handed directly to him as the head of that squad.

We can go further to say that he was the one who pointed at Simon of Cyrene and shouted, “Hey, you bloody civilian, “Come and carry this cross with Him!” (Mark. 15:21)

If you do not know, let me tell you, when one of the condemned criminals rebuked his colleague in crime, “Don’t you fear God?”, he heard it. It is even safe to say that it was at that point that his conscience began to prick him and it was his search for the answer to that general question that forced him to acknowledge that Jesus Christ was the son of God. Even though Luke said, a righteous man. Whichever one he used, it is not a light thing for corrupt men to recognize godly virtues in others and to publicly attest to it.

His conviction did not come because the Lord Jesus jumped down from the cross but because of the manner in which He died. It is not true that the people of the world will quickly repent when they see plenty of money around the believers. It is what we do in the times of difficulty that will tell them the quality of goodness in us. This is a talk for another day but don’t forget that it was the manner Jesus Christ died that convinced him.

Let us go further to the resurrection morning; we cannot say for sure whether he was there but they were soldiers who were under his command who witnessed when a mighty angel from heaven came down and rolled away the rock that covered the tomb of Jesus Christ. we are told that in fear they fell like dead men. (Matt. 28:1-8). It is most likely that he was the one they called first to report this strange but holy occurrence, and he in turn reported to the religious leaders.

When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.' If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day. Matt 28:12-15NIV

If they gave the soldiers under him a large sum of money, it is safe to say that the money was handed to him in a bulk and the instruction on what they should tell the public was passed directly to him. He was the one who received the bribe in bulk and distributed to every soldier their portion.

When he got home that day, his wife obviously asked him how it went at his duty post, he lied to his family; he lied to his sons and daughters, he lied to his neighbors and to everyone he met. He knew the truth but he chose to spread a lie. He spread the lie because he was bribed.

Times have come and passed; we have it on record that he knew the truth but chose to spread the lie. He did not believe the lie but he spread the lie.

Here again we witness how two principal groups of people who the society look up to as the custodians of the truth, gang up to keep the people in darkness. It is not because they did not know the truth but the lie protected their interest. Some church leaders still do this today; they speak against some other churches and preachers because they fear that if their congregation hear the truth, they would lose the money they get from them. So, they continue to enforce lies.

Hmmm!

There are people who join to spread lies on the social media against some Christian leaders, not because they do bot know the truth but they wanted to sustain the narrative that suits their ego. They do not pay tithe and have never paid but they keep spreading the lie that all pastors do is to collect other people’s money. Once they hear something negative about someone they dislike, they spread it, not because they believe it but because the information feeds their wish for that person.

Till date, there are men and women in authority who receive money or any other kind of compensation to spread lies. Medical workers give those who come to seek medical attention wrong medical testimony because that is how they make their money. some ignorant patient is still receiving injection for days for a sickness he does not have because the Christian doctor have told lies. Someone is still in detention because a Christian police officer will not testify to his innocence. In our offices and homes, we speak lies in words and the character we exhibit and the onlookers believe that our character is the way the followers of Jesus Christ behave.

Knowledge is not Power; It is what you do with the knowledge that brings the power. No amount of education can transform the life of a person who has refused to apply what he has learned. Our society is not in lack of men and women of character because of the lack of information. The moral decline in our society is not because the pastors are not teaching the truth. Every other Sunday service, people gather in churches to hear the word of God but when they walk away, they still act against the truth they know.

We do not see the bribe they received, but we are left with the pack of lies they leave behind years after they have died. Like the centurion in our bible account, we have moved from the days we acted in ignorance and by continuing to stay around the Church and other believers, we have come to know the truth about the Church and the gospel she preaches. Unfortunately, we continue to spread the lies.

Jesus Christ is risen and you know the truth.

Will you now open your mouth and declare the truth to your circle of influence?

Let it be said about you, “He too met Jesus Christ at the cross in 2026 and all things changed”.

SIMON: FOUND BY GRACE

 Simon: Found by grace

A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. Mark 15:21NIV

Just one verse and one mention but it changed the course of the entire story. A great number of has people has claimed they found their purpose in life and peace with God when they went before the Cross. But here is a man to whom the Cross went. Some went in search of Calvary because they have lost everything but here is a man who was not even interested in the Cross but the grace found him.

I want to let you know that this story was documented some years after the actual event. Simon of Cyrene was not a believer before this time. It is even possible that his entire family had no interest in all this talk about a Jew who claimed to have been sent by God for the salvation of the whole world.

It is possible that he heard rumors of the birth of the messiah but he was not interested. He probably heard about the killing of some children by Herod but he was too occupied with his private life.

Then, all the stories about many miracles of healing, casting out of demons, multiplication of bread and walking on the water all performed by the one they called the messiah but Simon was not interested.

A time came when the discussions in his city revolved around the man called Jesus of Nazareth, some spoke for him while others spoke against him, but Simon did not want to be distracted..

It is possible someone came to tell his family that the man Jesus of Nazareth has been arrested and they were about to crucify him but Simon picked up his back sack and went to work.

While Pilate battled to make the crowd to change their minds but failed; then they took Jesus Christ to be tortured, His cloths ripped off and beaten like a criminal, Simon was not interested. They placed a crown of thorns on His head and struck his head with mock royal staff, Simon was busy with his life.

Then they dragged Him out and placed a heavy cross on His shoulder and instructed Him to carry it to the place He would later be crucified.

Every moment made the sufferings of Jesus heavier; most people were sorry but no one offered to help.

It was in this moment that Simon came by; he did not come to observe; he did not come in scrutiny and he did come to understand why all this suffering by the son of God.

As was his habit, he wanted to walk past and continue with his old life.

That was when divine providence moved the heart of the soldiers; God had to employ the soldiers who will then apply force. Our main text said that they forced him to carry the cross for Jesus. The account indicates that once he took the cross, he never dropped until they got to where Jesus was crucified. That one time he took the cross, he never walked away again. He stood there to observe the crucifixion.

I strongly believe that the impression of that one encounter remained with him. When he later got home and shared the account with his family, the glory he brought home overshadowed them too.

The result was that his entire family surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ and two of his son eventually reputed force in the Church, so that the writer of that story did not need to explain them. Simon was the father of Rufus and Alexander.

How can we be sure of this?

Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too. Rom 16:13NIV

That was Apostle Paul talking about this well known Rufus again. Then, Simon’s wife was like a mother to Paul.

While he lived his selfish life no one knew about him. But when he put his hands to help the Lord with the cross, he found purpose. Years after, his name was enshrined in God’s book. His family found relevance.

Hear me today child of God; if you are like those who think that you can make it without Jesus.

Are you among those who think it boring to talk about Christian service?

Are you like those who will not accept the :Lord’s call to serve in the mission field?

Are you among those who fear suffering and so want to focus on becoming rich in this world’s wealth?

Let me suggest something for you; pick up the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be shocked how your life will begin to make a meaning.

Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God — that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 1 Cor 1:26-30NIV

Before I let you go for now, let me sound a warning; not everyone was as fortunate as Simon. Some died before they could bow. There are those who come to carry the cross when they have wasted all of their energy chasing vanity.

Now they seem too heavy for them because their body strength has sagged.

If you are still a youth, take up the cross now.

It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. Lam 3:27NIV

Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them"— before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain. Eccl 12:1-2 NIV

THE FREEDMAN MINDSET

We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler's snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Ps 124:7 NIV

Living like a free person feels strange if one has been in prison for a long time. One time I took out my wedding ring to clean up my finger but I still had the feeling that I was putting on a ring because I have worn that ring for many years.

That is the challenge some praying Christians have; most of their prayers are focused on gaining deliverance from satan and his agents. So, even after they have completed a deliverance session, they are still praying for deliverance. At times they do that while neglecting the simple things they could do for themselves to effect the material manifestation of their deliverance and prayer answer.

Hanna had a running battle with Penina who was making her life miserable because of her barren status. This problem has been on her for years. We were not told but it could have been over ten years. One day Hanna made out time to make a deal with God and the Man of God, Eli sealed that transaction with a priestly proclamation backing her prayers.

Now read what Hanna did,

Eli answered, "Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him." She said, "May your servant find favor in your eyes." Then she went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast. Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the Lord and then went back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah lay with Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, "Because I asked the Lord for him." 1 Sam 1:17-20 NIV

Immediately Hanna heard from God’s representative that day, she changed her mindset. She agreed with her prayers through faith. She went home with a different spirit. She believed her matter was settled.

Take note that it did not say she got pregnant that very month; it was after some time. It is possible it took another five months but we never read that Hanna was downcast again.

She also opened up to her husband. It is true that God promised to give her a son but it is her husband that will get her pregnant. It is part of God’s way of granting her prayers. If she refused to sleep with her husband because she was angry about the past, she would never have gotten pregnant.

Somewhere God had to remind His people that they were no longer slaves;

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high. Lev 26:13NIV

I need to remind the child of God who participated in the PNUR Breakfast for Breakthrough, “Beloved, you are no longer a slave! Your chains have been broken.”

Our main text here says it all. Whatever that used to bind you has been broken and you have to step out now in the freedman’s mindset. Do not let the feeling of what you went through govern your mind and decisions. Let the past remain behind you, so you can concentrate on your purpose for your future.

Draw up fresh plans.

Start up from where you were obstructed.

Go out again.

The cage could remain open for years but the bird will never feel the freedom until it flies out.

Get up from where you are and fly out.

Embrace new opportunities.

Finally, remember to live a life of Thanksgiving everyday while you press on to reach your new goals.

HOW TO DEAL WITH BULLY DEMONS

 How to deal with bully-demons

She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her Act16:18 NIV

I grew up in a bully infested area of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. More than half the number of the children in that neighborhood were born out of wedlock. My physique created a problem for me. I was lanky and taller than my actual age. So the bigger boys picked on me and beat me often. I could barely come out to play.

There was this boy called Kofi. Kofi is a Ghanaian name and I guess because someone from Ghana impregnated his mother. He was a bully and very good at it, and he made my life miserable.

One day I advised myself’ it is either I fight Kofi with whatever I had or I will spend the rest of my days under torture because of his relentless bullying. One day I walked out to the playground and as you would expect, Kofi was waiting to bully me. To his surprise I confronted him, “Kofi, we have to fight today and it will be an open one.”

There was an uproar on the playground. Some shouted in disbelief, “Where did Emma get power to fight almighty Kofi today?”

We faced each other and I posed the only kung-fu setting I knew and I saw the rage in Kofi’s eyes. He gave his several settings and was ready for the kill. As I advanced towards him, Kofi flew into the air to hit me with his leg. He was in midair, about my height but I bent down and he flew over me and landed heavily on the ground. When I turned to deal with him, he was in such severe pain with bruises. He was bleeding. His friends came to help him up. That was the last time I had problem with him.

Our text says that the evil spirit in that girl messed around for many days but it was for as long as Apostle Paul did not see it as a major problem. Paul could have reasons or excuses why he tolerated it. I want you to understand that devil and his demons are not nearly as strong as they brag. That is why they employ all manner of fear tactics and misinformation. You are created to be like God. That is what it means, {In God’s image and God’s likeness”. Devil is like the angels and so by his very nature he is a servant. He is a renegade servant trying to assert himself over his master. It is in your place to put him where he belongs. Like Kofi the bully, he is full of rage but by the power and authority in the name of Jesus Christ, he is already defeated.

Again, you are not supposed to meet him power for power in your own strength. You are supposed to surrender to the Holy Spirit and pray those prayers in faith. That is why we ask you,

“Are you born again?

Are dully baptized?

Are you filled with the Holy Spirit?”

If you cannot answer these questions with confident affirmation, then reach out to me and I will assist you. Some erroneously believe that God is sitting down in heaven watching the battle between us and the devil. That is not true. There are things that God has put in place to support you in your everyday life. You need to change the mindset that suggests that God is not involved in your battles. God is involved and ever ready to support you.

Take a look at the Prayer Collections again. Stop believing the devil’s lies that your prayers are not working. If they don’t work, why then does he intensify attacks each time you start praying seriously? Why do the nightmares intensify when you pray passionately? Can’t you see that your total deliverance is nearer than ever? Devil is trying to discourage you.

Intensify prayers.

5 things to consider when it appears that prayers are not working.

Some have reached me to express that they don’t feel that their prayers are working out anything. Others said that instead of the spiritual problems to abate, they become more severe. The latter group often decide to suspend the prayers to let things remain the way they were.

If those prayers are not working, why has the demons intensified their attacks? If the prayers are not affecting them in anyway, why do they put you under pressure to stop it? I have learned this in a practical sense in the ministry. Satan don’t bother himself when a preacher who has no message and anointing decides to organize a program. He can even go ahead and support him. The opposite is the case when a servant of God with a purposeful mandate comes to a city. Satan must mobilize all his agents and try everything to frustrate him. So I want you to see the intensified attacks as a sign that you are now taking steps towards your exit from his prison. Rather than give up, intensify prayers.

Here are few things to consider

1. Your spiritual position in Christ. I was once praying with someone and a girl walked in and said, “Amen!” Immediately she received a slap from a spirit-person who questioned why she should join and pray against them. She was not born again but joined in doing the business of born again people. We got to know as she screamed out in pain. Make sure you are born again.

2. Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? For this reason we have a Prayer Collection to help those who need infilling of the Holy Spirit. It is not in the will of God that you confront the devil and his agents in your intellectual strength. The Holy Spirit gives power and current to your prayers. Unfortunately, some people don’t know this. You can ask for the Prayer Collection, A-Z of the Holy Spirit.

3. Look out for covenant points with the spirits. If you have covenant with the spirit, it will obviously insist on its right to remain in charge. Once the covenants are exposed and broken, the demons leave on their own. You can ask for my book, “Covenants: How They Affect People” for more on this. You can also ask for the Deliverance Questionaire which can assist you to find out those covenant points.

4. Wrong prayer focus. In some circles, the prayer topics are unbiblical. When you go into warfare with weapons that God has not approved, you are on your own. You will do well to read these books of mine, “Prayer That God Must Answer”, “Prayers that Bring Results” and “Quest for Supernatural Power”

5. The enemy is trying to discourage you because you just began to put him under pressure. That is the point I made earlier. If your prayers are not achieving anything, he won’t try to stop your prayers.

This is not only for those in search of deliverance from demons but should be applied in every sense as we serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

Will you not take what your god Chemosh gives you? Likewise, whatever the Lord our God has given us, we will possess. Judg. 11:24 NIV

That is a powerful word for the month of March. I have no intention to negotiate on anything that I know that God has given to me. People worship all kinds of things and call them their god. Some of these gods spread curses and diseases. Some of these gods make their worshipers insane and there are gods who are so backward that they abhor technology. Jehovah is not like that. I will gladly invite them to come over to worship my God. 

The good news is that our God gives good things to His worshipers.

At the beginning of this year, we received a powerful prophetic message from the Lord, “Blossom” and by the grace of God we shall live in the daily reality of it. We will blossom because there is power in the words of the King of kings. I am currently enjoying a lot of transformation around me. 

As expected, our enemy the devil hates to even hear that the children of God are drawing close to attain the fullness of God’s intention for us. God’s intention is very plain, 

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer. 29:11 NIV

It was not long after the children of Israel left their place of pain, bondage and suffering in Egypt that their enemies mobilized their forces to bring the people of God back into bondage. It was not many days after Daniel and his team escaped death from the king Nebuchadnezzar that he molded an image of a false god and he would have destroyed them in the furnace if our most powerful God did not step into the fire.

Devil, his demons and the humans who submit to him live according to their titles, they are our enemies and they hate to see us in the good of God’s plan for us. They want our lives to reflect the direct opposite of God’s intention for us. They want to quickly drag us back to the place or thing that God has delivered us from. They want to make it seem like a costly mistake for us to live the life of peace and joy that God has purposed for us.

Our main text tells us the reply Jephthah gave to the enemy. The enemy and his forces wanted the children of God to return the blessings that God had given to them.

The king of the Ammonites answered Jephthah's messengers, "When Israel came up out of Egypt, they took away my land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, all the way to the Jordan. Now give it back peaceably." Judg. 11:13 NIV

Did you read where the enemy referred to forfeiting their inheritance as an art of peace? Believe me when I tell you that this is the kind of peace a lot of professing Christians are living on today. They let the enemy keep his hold on their finances because every time they take any step towards attaining prosperity the enemy will attack them viciously.  Now they are singing on the social media that everyone will not be rich. They even call preachers who talk about prosperity false prophets. In order to have peace from the devil. They have trimmed their life to suit the low life.

For some people it is their marriage; any time they take the step in the direction of getting established in marriage, the enemy will attack viciously and disorganize everything. Now they are singing the song, “marriage is not for everyone!”. 

For some it is their academic pursuit; anytime they want to advance their studies, one sickness will set in to drag them back. Now they are singing the song, “Everyone will not be a graduate”.

For people there will be trouble anytime they make efforts to establish a big business. Now, they are singing, “It does not work for me. Let me just stay the way I am”. 

For some people the only way they can keep the peace is by spending regularly on medications and hospital bills. When Pastor Emma tells them that they can break free from such burdens, they see me as the trouble maker. That is the way they keep the peace.

There are those whose children are under the control of the devil. These children are living wild life that is contrary to God’s will and the godly parents are afraid of lifting their voice. Right under their watch the devil is destroying their children with hard drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality and all manner of destructive lifestyles. Some pastors even tell the parents to just accept those destructive lifestyles as the nature of the children.

As a servant of God I have experienced this kind of vicious attacks when I try to move my ministry into a higher dimension. Things begin to happen like you are doing something wrong. It is the enemy trying to force you back to smallness and bondage.

There are those who are under demonic oppression; they are always abused sexually in their dreams; they are often pressed in their sleep and evil spirits haunt their homes. Anytime they go into intensive warfare prayers, there is a vicious spiritual attack. Now they say, I think things are better when I don’t use those PNUR Prayer Collections, because each time I use them, I experience attacks.

Beloved child of God, this is not a way to live your Christian life and that is not God’s plan for you. We are on Mount Zion and this is what the word of God says,

But on Mount Zion will be deliverance; it will be holy, and the house of Jacob will possess its inheritance. Obad. 17 NIV

There is total deliverance available here and you have an inheritance. Yet, you are the one to take charge of your inheritance.

Amen!

We can learn something very vital from Jephthah’s response.  Our God did not call us to serve Him in vain. (Isa.  45:19). It is in the program of our God to bless us abundantly. When He told us to blossom this year, He meant it.

Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor. Isa. 60:21 NIV

 Whatever is in the will of God for you, has left the store houses of heaven. It is your place to step into it and keep your hold on it. You do not need to turn your back and flee because the enemy is attacking. You do not need to tune down your life to allow peace from the enemy. You are supposed to stand and tell him plainly, “I am not shifting grounds, devil! I also do not have any plans to negotiate with you. If God has given it to me, I will keep it!”

That is where the battle really starts. As expected, the enemy will attack, but that is also why you have the Holy Spirit who will help you to move into a high level of spiritual authority. With the Holy Spirit in your life, there is no limit to the power you have over the devil and the hosts of darkness.

If you make the Most High your dwelling — even the Lord, who is my refuge — then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. "Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. Ps. 91:9-14 NIV

You can now understand why we want to spend the entire month of March in prayers. In this month, we want to reenforce our God given mandate to BLOSSOM! There is no better way to achieve that other than through prayers.

Here is the schedules;

• 6am-12pm every day, we will be fasting.

• 12 midnight for the entire month of March, Pastor Kassey Emmanuel will be leading us in midnight cry.

• Every 4pm on every Sunday in March, we will hold deliverance session in the Door of Hope Christian Center, Port Harcourt.

• You will be getting regular teachings and Prayer Collection for each day.

Through out the month of March, our ministry team will be ready to support you in prayers and counselling.

Like always, I know that all my wonderful family and partners are ready to launch out.

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires 2 Peter 1:3-4NIV

Praise Master Jesus Christ. It is another PNUR Global Day of Fasting and Prayers, we consider ourselves very fortunate to have a living God who we can always approach. I want to let you know that we are here on appointment, God is expecting us as always. He will be embarrassed if we did not come. Prayer is the opportunity given to us to say something about our lives, failure to do so is suicide, and let me tell you, there are plenty of miracles and prayer answers awaiting every member of this family as we pray today.

The bible started by telling us that there is God; this is something you must not negotiate or argue with anyone. Don’t let anyone tell you that God is a force, Mother Nature or whatever else. You must hold this truth firmly no matter where you are or what you face. Your position with regards to the existence of a true and living God will determine whether you will stand to the end or ruined at the end.

The bible went further to tell us that God did not meet this world in a good state but went on to work on it and subsequently brought beauty out of the mess. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you what the bible did not say. Man was the last thing that was created and we are made to understand that God’s original intention is that Man will be like Him.

So, God had no intention to have men and women who are not able to face circumstances but to have men and women who take responsibility for their world and their life. He wants us to step into every ugly circumstance just as He did and through the divine power He provided, turn them around.

_His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires 2 Peter 1:3-4NIV_

This is something the devil does not want you to hear. It is not a new revelation. That was the original intention at the point of creation but satan lied and keeps lying to us that we do not have it yet.

_Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them Gen 1:26-27 NIV_

So, Man was already like God when satan came around to deceive them. He lied that man and his wife needed to do something outside of what God had finished to become what God had made them.

_"For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Gen 3:5 NIV_

That was the devil’s lie and he still deceives people today by telling them to practice occult and witchcraft in order to have the divine power. Some believers buy satanic materials from mystic shops and some visit witchdoctors in thick jungles in order to get power. They fail to see that they are already endowed with this divine power.

That was the mistake Adam and Eve made; when they believed the devil and went ahead to disobey God, instead of becoming like God, they fell from their God given level and fell below the devil. Satan could now push man around, oppress him, harass him and make his life miserable. That is the origin of fear, death, defeat, diseases, poverty and all the issues we struggle with today.

God’s intention was originally that we should have dominion and rule our world, but when we obeyed satan to disobey God, we lost the dominion and hence, the power to rule our world. That is why God had to undertake a rescue mission by sending our Lord Jesus Christ to redeem mankind. The word, Redeem, means to buy back. Through Christ Jesus God bought back what was lost when Man obeyed the devil and lost his God given position.

It is in and through Christ Jesus that we are able to reclaim this divine power. Unfortunately, a lot of people are not interested in giving their life to Christ. They are looking for riches, deliverance, prosperity, healing and peace of mind, but they are not able to see that all these things are available to them if they will surrender their lives to Christ Jesus.

Another sad news is that there are those who are in Christ but still need to be told that His divine power has given to us all things that we need for life and godliness. These are the kind of people that Apostle Peter was addressing and incidentally, that is where we belong today.

Take note also that we need the knowledge of God through the Holy Spirit in order to operate in this divine power. The knowledge of God that generates this divine is available in the revealed word of God in the bible.

_All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work 2 Tim 3:16-17 NIV_

It is important that you observe that it said, “All scripture”; that includes both the New and Old Testament of the bible. Believers will only express their full potentials when they are able to advantage of God’s revealed knowledge.

It went further to tell us that within the scriptures are some very precious promises. Those are God’s promises. They are things that God has promised to do for His children. If there are things that He promised to do for His children, we should also recognize that there are things that are outside of His promises.

That is where prayer comes in and more importantly, praying in the right manner in order to claim those things that God has promised. It is regrettable that some believers are very busy in the prayer business but they are not praying within the lines of God’s promises.

Why do we pray? We pray because it is our way to participate in the divine nature. The Lord Jesus Christ is our role model.

_To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21 NIV_

_I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12 NIV_

He started and ran His ministry by praying; He was praying when He was baptized, He was praying when He was filled with the Holy Spirit, He was praying when He was led into the wilderness, at the tomb of Lazarus He prayed, He prayed over scarce bread for a large crowd and He spent entire night in prayer to choose His Apostles. That was how He prepared and equipped Himself to exercise the divine power.

That was the example He left us and that is what we are supposed to do. When we do any less, we should expect less.

Our main text says that through the divine power we are able to do the things that God does, that is to participate or share in the divine nature. That agrees with the lifestyle of our Lord Jesus Christ.

_Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does John 5:19 NIV_

The next thing mentioned there is that we are able to overcome the power of sin in this corrupt world. You would have heard me say that prayer is a disinfectant to sin. One sure way to live above the power of sin is by giving yourself to more praying. The life of prayer is a sure way to live and overcome the power of the flesh and advance in the realms of the Holy Spirit. No level of morality or self-discipline will give you power over sin, if you are not given to prayer.

_So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. Gal 5:16-18 NIV_

The only and sure way to live by the Spirit is through a lifestyle of prayer. It is through the instrumentality of prayer you can connect to the realms of the Holy Spirit, draw power and exercise same in the space of men.

We are told that we should not condescend to employing the weapons that mere men employ in warfare.

_For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Cor. 10:3-5 NIV_

We have come in contact again with the phrase, Divine Power; weapons that have divine power that can demolish and overthrow arguments, ungodly thoughts and every power of the enemy.

There is nowhere else that we can find all these, if not in the place of prayer. Prayer generates power that is why I tell you that prayer is more important than power.

Make sure you join the fast.

Make sure that you set aside time for prayers.

Make sure you encourage other people to join us.

LIVING IN ABUNDANCE IN THE SEASON OF FAMINE

I have received a word from the Lord for us and it is a promise “Living in Abundance in the Season of Famine”. 

God has asked me to announce to my audience that the Lord is sending us an abundance even though it is globally the season of famine. 

Amen! 

Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt, but seven years of famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in Egypt will be forgotten, and the famine will ravage the land. The abundance in the land will not be remembered, because the famine that follows it will be so severe. Gen 41:29-31NIV

This is actually a response I got from the Lord in my time of private prayer. I declared seven days of fasting and prayers with some leaders in the PNUR family from 30th of June and we will end on the 7th of July 2025.

I pray that the river flowing from my bowels will flow into yours in Jesus’ name.

Let us start by saying that everyone faces a season of famine. Let us put it in another way; when there is famine in the land, godly and ungodly people experience it. There is no guaranty that while the rest of mankind is facing a famine that some special people of God will be enjoying a good season.

Abraham experienced a famine, even though he was known as a friend of God and he had an eternal covenant with God

Isaac the child of divine promise experienced famine even though he was God’s miracle child to Abraham

Jacob faced famine that forced him to Egypt even though he often talked with angels and enjoyed divine protection.

Our main text is from an account of Joseph telling Pharaoh that they should prepare for a coming famine. That means that Joseph faced the famine too. Go through the Old Testament bible and you will find that even the man after God’s heart, King David faced famine. Good kings and bad kings faced the famine in their own time.

If you think that things should be different for the people of grace who operated under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, read the following scripture;

During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea. This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul. Acts 11:27-30NIV

The prophet of the Lord announced that a famine was coming but he did not bind the demon of famine nor did he release a prophetic word to ward off the famine so that it would not affect the people of god, rather he told them to prepare to face the famine.

Let me repeat here; famine is part of life and everyone faces the famine.

There is an irony here; our main text said that God had to warn Pharaoh to prepare for the famine that will hit the whole world. God told a Gentile king to prepare for the famine that will come upon the whole world but not Jacob who carried the Abrahamic covenant. Prophet Agabus warned the Gentile church in Antioch and they were the ones that sent support to the people of God in Judea. Till date it still appears that the people of the world are often more prepared than the members of the Body of Christ in dealing with famine. That must be the reason God gives them advance information.

Child of God, I am called by the Lord to warn you to prepare for the coming famine.

There is another strong message there; there will be an abundance before the famine. Like the matter of famine, abundance also gets to everyone but after the abundance, the effect of the famine will totally wipe out all the benefits of the abundance and the painful effect of the famine will make people to forget that they ever had abundance.

So we see here that God’s way of giving us preferential treatment is by warning us to manage our abundance well.

Let us take these 5 points.

1. God will always warn us before he sends an abundance and a famine.

We saw this consistency in the account of God giving Pharaoh a warning and the prophet Agabus warning the Church in Antioch. 

2. It takes a decerning mind and connection with the Spirit of God to hear the warning.

God spoke to Pharaoh and he was wise enough to seek the interpretation. I strongly believe that God would have spoken to Jacob and other people around the world but they did not show the determination that Pharaoh had. There are other natural signs that could precede a famine. These could be weather changes but often our minds are captured by the present abundance that came before the famine.

3. God will likely supply us with the guidance on how to face our famine season.

In the time of Isaac, God told him not to flee the famine but to stay back in the place of famine and continue his business.

Now there was a famine in the land — besides the earlier famine of Abraham's time — and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. Gen 26:1-3NIV

God tried to forestall Isaac repeating the mistake of Abraham who went to Egypt in the time of famine and that was where he got Hagar who became a generational problem in his family. Many of God’s people fail to listen to God and their attitude is to rely on the view point of the world in dealing with their famine.

In the case of Pharaoh, God made an advance arrangement to connect the bottler to Joseph in the prison. Pharaoh was humble enough to consult the services of a condemned prisoner in the dungeon. For some people, pride would have kept them from talking with Joseph.

4. God sends an abundance before the famine. 

That was actually what God wanted to prevent. Many people who are going through their season of famine now, had wastefully used their season of abundance because they did not hear the warning about the coming famine. As deliverance minister I have counselled people who came to me seeking deliverance from evil forces that drained their resources; some had four cars but presently have none; some had plenty of houses in major cities but today they have none; some occupied high political offices but today they are down trodden. All these people strongly believe that some agent of darkness was their problem. After prayers, I could not observe the activities of satan or his agents. Most of these people had enjoyed their abundance but did not make plans for the famine.  

5. You cannot pray the famine away

There are people who erroneously believe that prayer and fasting will take care of the famine. Some believe that being a covenant child of God will protect them from famine.

Here is the recommendation of Joseph to deal with famine;

"And now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and put him in charge of the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance. They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food. This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine." Gen 41:33-36NIV

Here is how Isaac prospered in the time of famine,

Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. Gen 26:12-14NIV

Because Pharaoh heeded the warning from the Lord and obeyed the counsel of Joseph, the land of Egypt had abundance in the season of famine.

There was no food, however, in the whole region because the famine was severe; both Egypt and Canaan wasted away because of the famine. Joseph collected all the money that was to be found in Egypt and Canaan in payment for the grain they were buying, and he brought it to Pharaoh's palace. When the money of the people of Egypt and Canaan was gone, all Egypt came to Joseph and said, "Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? Our money is used up." Gen 47:13-15NIV

Did you read where it said that the famine was also severe in Egypt but read further, they grew wealthier in the season of famine than they were in the time of abundance.

Halleluiah!

That is why God is sending you this special message. An abundance is coming but understand that if you use it well, you will grow richer when other people famine in the future.

Can you begin to pray now; "Holy Spirit, I connect my spirit to you for your guidance as I walk into my abundance". Pray fervently.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE ENEMIES OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST

David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands." 1 Sam 17:45-47NIV

The battleline is drawn and your days are numbered!

On behalf of the generation with the wilderness anointing, I am bold to tell you, the enemies of the Church of Jesus Christ, that the season when you hold sway and determine and change the rules of this conflict is over.

I can understand why you have become arrogant and insolent of late; yes, you have erroneously concluded that having neutralized the Sauls’ generation of the Church age to the point where they have lost their voices and they now serve as your propaganda channels, you have concluded that there is no more future for the Church.

I am here to announce to you that you are wrong in this matter.

You have misjudged the weakness of men to imply that our God must be weak too.

You must have a short memory!

Do you remember what happened to the Pharaoh of Egypt when he refused to let the people of God to go? Do you remember how our God humbled him and he fell on his knees to beg the Israelites to go? Do you remember what happened to him when Pharaoh changed his mind and chased after the people of God? Pharaoh and his army drowned in the sea. It turned out for the glory of our God.

I assure you that this season will also turnout for the gain of the Church and the glory of our God!

Do you remember what happened when Nebuchadnezzar became as insolent as you have now become? He threw the three young servants of our God into the blazing furnace; do you remember that our God became the fourth man in the fire? The fire of persecution has never destroyed the genuine children of our God.

All your persecution and molestations do not have the power to harm us. It can only make us stronger.

Nebuchadnezzar became proud and boasted of his glory as if he got them independent of Jehovah. Remember how our God showed His limitless power when he made him to live like an animal in the bush for seven years?

Oh, enemy of the Church; I can see your humiliation around the corner.

Do you remember what happened when King Herod spoke like he was a god? The angel of our God struck him and maggots ate him up.

 History is on our side and we will never call you a giant. You are an uncircumcised animal. You will go down like Goliath.

God has watched closely as you infiltrated our ranks and you have projected your servants into our midst, who now masquerade as servants of our God. You have desecrated our holy places. On the social media and in every other means you could find you have spoken profanities against our God, his servants and our sacred institutions. Like Goliath, you have stayed for so long that it now appears that you are invincible.

I want to let you know that your time is up. You will be humiliated and defeated.

This battle is our God’s battle and He has guaranteed victory for us.

You may start the battle but our God determines how it will end.

Our God has raised an unconventional army against you and in the year 2026, they will be released and you will be destroyed.

These are not the kind of warriors that you have always known and their principal source of strength is their selfless devotion to our God and His kingdom.

Your rampaging will end with 2025 and I am speaking as an authority for the kingdom of our God.

You will be humiliated and defeated

No longer shall you deceive the people of our God.

Henceforth, every insolence and abuse shall be met with a severe repercussion.

The season when you humiliated the children and servants of our God has expired.

The people of God will shout in triumph over you and from henceforth, your alleys shall flee.no longer shall your alleys cause us to flee but they will flee before us.

One shall chase a thousand and two shall chase ten thousand.

Our God has the final say and you do not have the power to resist Him.

Your season of evil reign has ended.

With the blood of Jesus Christ as my ink, I sign this letter.

Your time is up!

By my authority as the servant of Jehovah, I declare AMEN!

07 - I CAN TAKE THIS FIGHT; I CAN WIN 07

God’s instrument for divine intervention 

Now Jesse said to his son David, "Take this ephah d of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit.  See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance f from them. They are with Saul and all the men of Israel in the Valley of Elah, fighting against the Philistines." 1 Sam 17:17-19NIV

I am not able to hold back laughter each time I read this scripture to this point; Jesse mobilized provision to send to the armies of Israel because he believed that they were fighting a brutal war against the Philistines. Just imagine how many other families that were doing the same but when David got to the battlefield here is what he found;

Early in the morning David left the flock with a shepherd, loaded up and set out, as Jesse had directed. He reached the camp as the army was going out to its battle positions, shouting the war cry. Israel and the Philistines were drawing up their lines facing each other. David left his things with the keeper of supplies, ran to the battle lines and greeted his brothers.  As he was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped out from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. When the Israelites saw the man, they all ran from him in great fear. 1 Sam 17:20-24NIV

Contrary to what was believed, they were not fighting but were all running away from the enemy. They had lost control because the enemy determined and changed the rules. They would have gladly returned home but they were not sure of what answer they could give to people like Jesse. The enemy set up an obstacle to their advancement and retired to do other things. For forty days they remained in that condition until God graciously brought in a man who carried a kind of grace.

David stepped in with something that was unpolished, totally crude and unconventional. Nobody honors that kind of person or thing but that was who God had prepared for a time like this.

Amen!

This is the condition of the Church of Jesus Christ today. We have our archbishops, bishops, prophets, apostles and all the other bogus titles that men assume today. We have built high rising structures all over the land and boast of all that we have accumulated of the goods of this world yet, the enemy is messing us up. Satanism, idolatry and all manner of evil practices are practiced in our communities but we are helpless; we are powerless to deal with them.

We strive to show how one denomination is superior to the other and set up different cults of bishops and the sons of the prophets just to create the impression that God is still with us. We shamelessly claim that Christian ministry is now about packaging and logistics in the face of the teeming human needs that are begging for urgent intervention from men who claim to carry the power of God.

It is important that we state why this situation has arisen; King Saul had unresolved issues with God. Instead of taking a break to deal with those matters, he continued to create a false impression that all was well while fighting the battles of God. God was fed up with him and the Lord’s servant, Samuel, was tired of praying for him

The Lord said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? 1 Sam 16:1NIV

Samuel mourned for him. Believe me, the children of God who read the bible well are mourning for our church leaders, but God is about to call them out of that mourning. God has told me that  He is planning an inversion into this bad situation that will make the mourners to rejoice in the new things God will do.

This is also the condition of a lot of people who are making noise all over the place, making prophetic declaration in the name of the Lord. The absence of the genuine power of God in our midst is no longer a secret. Hence, we make up for our poverty by sharing food and medicine to those whose real need is the salvation of their souls. Instead of calling the people to the place of general repentance, they plan one-million-man praise night. Instead of crying between the temple and the altar, we rent crowds of the unregenerate to fill our lifeless auditoria. Like Rehoboam, we are not interested in fighting to restore the gold of the sanctuary but we have replaced them with polished bronze. A generation that has become experts at hypocrisy; fake healing testimonies and fake miracles has become our propaganda tools.

Just like we read in our text chapter, God is about calling in another kind of ministers from their place of preparation in the wilderness. Like David, these are men who have been despised; these are men who have been treated like trash by the Jesses of this age. People like Jesse  keep sending their tithe, offerings and covenant seeds of faith to the wrong people while despising the men who have been walking in close devotion with God. They despise them and the Sauls of this age do not know them or where they are coming from but God is about to shake the world through His special vessels.

Let me also say something to this generation with the grace of David; be careful that you do not lose sight of the real issues. You are not supposed to despise Jesse or try to compete with Saul. They are still children of God but their lifestyles have brought the name of the Lord to disrepute. God is going to use the David kind of anointing in your life to redeem His name before the enemies of the Church and these backsliders will return and praise God again because of what He is about to do through you.

Amen!

My beloved brethren, I bring you word from Jehovah for this new year, 2026, God is going to call you out of the wilderness and into the place of prominence where you will showcase all that God has been training you for. That is why you must remain committed to your devotion to God.

I hear it in the spirit, in 2026, the word from God is BLOSSOM! (Isa. 60:5).

The seed of God in you will blossom and the grace of God in your life will be unlocked and you will flourish because God is sending the rain of His word on you.

Praise master Jesus Christ!

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.  Isa 55:10-11NIV

Begin to give praise to God!

Whose Son is That Young Man?

As Saul watched David going out to meet the Philistine, he said to Abner, commander of the army, "Abner, whose son is that young man?" Abner replied, "As surely as you live, O king, I don't know." The king said, "Find out whose son this young man is." As soon as David returned from killing the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul, with David still holding the Philistine's head. "Whose son are you, young man?" Saul asked him. 1 Sam 17:55-58NIV

King Saul watched an unknown teenager who walked into a battleground but was not afraid of an enemy that everyone else fled from. It was some of the soldiers that brought him to the king. They took time to properly brief David about the risky situation at hand, but he was surprised that nothing intimidated David. He heard David trash all the reasons he had for not going to confront Goliath himself. The young man even turned down the specially designed armor of the king but went in to the battle without a sword. He observed his audacity as he moved towards the deadly enemy. In our characteristic way of judgment, he thought the father of David must have done a great job in his life.

Then, he watched as David exchanged words of threat with Goliath. King Saul was clutching to his heart in apprehension. Then came the moment when Goliath charged towards David and King Saul thought in his heart, this is the moment the lad will flee, but to his shock, David ran further towards the battle line. King Saul said in his heart, this can be nothing but sound home training from a father who was a military man himself.

He turned to the general commander of his army and said, “I want to know and meet the father who raised this boy”.

We already know that the king was wrong in this matter. It had nothing to do with David’s father or the family he came from. Let me explain; before David came, there were three members of David’s family in the army and they were in the number of those who repeatedly ran away from Goliath for forty days. It is possible that the King did not know but just few days ago a prophet visited the family of Jesse of Bethlehem, after passing the seven other sons of the same father through the test, none of them were fit to be a king in Israel. God Himself declared them unqualified.

When Abner could not answer his question, King Saul kept watching as David ran towards the battleline, picked out one stone from his porch, loaded it into his sling, took an aim at the rampaging giant and while everyone watched, Goliath came crashing down to the ground. As if that was not enough, David ran towards him, took the giant sword of the giant warrior of the entire Philistine army and cut off the head of the once dreaded champion.

Try to follow the electrifying moment and hot pumping of the blood through the veins of the King as the young man started walking back to king Saul with the head of the giant in his hand.

Whereas the rest of the armies of Israel charged out to pursue the fleeing host of the Philistine armies, I imagine David lift the head of Goliath before King Saul and said, “My king, I told you that it is going to be easy”.

King Saul was not looking at the Goliath’s head in his hand, “Young man, who is your father? Who raised you?”

How often do we give credit to those who have nothing to do with the success in question? This has nothing to do with Jesse of Bethlehem; he was not a warrior and if he contributed anything to what David has become, it is the rejection and disregard he showed for David.

We are taking time to explain all this because of someone among my readers who would argue that his life would have been better if he came from a different background. Yes, some people say, if only I had a rich father or if only, I came from this other country or if only I belonged to that other Christian denomination, etc.

Like King Saul, people believe that people from good backgrounds have a better chance to make it in life.

My friend, it is not true. In this moment of truth let me tell you some things. Some people think that I am making this kind of wave in the ministry because my father was a missionary with the Scripture Union, Nigeria and the Anglican Church. It is not true. My father died while I was less than ten years. I got nothing from my father. I got nothing from the Scripture Union, not even a bible study follow-up. I got nothing from the Anglican Church. It is true that I spent some time with the Assemblies of God and Foursquare Gospel Church but there is nothing I have today that came from them. There are a number of other Christian organizations that I passed through, but they did not give me anything that has kept me where I am today. I am not saying that the time I spent with them was useless. Far from that. what I mean is that what God has brought me through was different from what they meant to my life.

There are those who talk about the schools they attended; after listening to me teach, a pastor asked to know the bible school I attended, but believe me this has nothing to do with a bible school, secondary or university education. If not for the mercies of God, some of those places would have ruined what God has done with me today.

About family background; even though I came from a supposing wealthy family background, I can say it here that I have not received any kind of support from them. What Joy and I got from our families was antagonism and witchcraft attack. I can count the three times that I am sure that people from my immediate family made attempts that would have taken my life.

Yes, lest I forget, the witchcraft attacks, antagonism, betrayals and inexplicable hatred we suffered from them contributed to make me an international authority in the field of deliverance and spiritual warfare. Those were the secret resources that enabled me to write more than twenty different book titles on the subject of deliverance and spiritual warfare.The rejection and lack of support contributed to make me a self-sufficient person, because I learned it very early that no one is coming to save me. This life has been between me and my God. It is not about my family.

Let me not make this too personal, go and ask some of the people you believe are successful in life and you will be shocked that their stories are not different from that of David and mine.

You might have come from a bad background but you must not let your background to pin your back to the ground. One time in my life, I took time to check the backgrounds of some people I considered very successful ministers of the gospel, but I was shocked that they did not get to where they are today because of what they got from where they came from. Most of them were disowned by their families because they picked up their bible to follow Jesus Christ. Now they have become successful and their families are claiming them. There are a good number of them that were doctors, university professors, lawyers and bigtime businessmen; almost all of them took nothing from their past. They trusted God like David did, put in some quality time for self-discipline and development, and that was how they got to where they are today.

 Unfortunately, few people know what I am talking today about the so-called successful people. In my years of relating with different Christian denominations, I discovered that the so-called large congregations only steal trained church workers from the smaller ones. You are free to investigate this yourself; most pastors in the large congregations are the disciples from other churches.

I want you to know that you can become the richest person in your country

I want you to know that you can fulfil your dreams in your career.

I want you to know that what people say or think about you can only govern you if you let them.

I want you to know that your background does not have the power to pin you down if you do not let it.

There are eight things you have to bear in mind as you enter into the next phase of your life.

1. You need to have a very strong relationship with God. He is the one that can truly bless you. Somewhere the bible says that a man receives nothing unless it is given to him from above (John. 3:27). Do not joke with your prayer and meditation time because this is how you build the closest tie with God. Fear magnifies your problems and doubt diminishes your God but it is in the place of prayer that you cage the two enemies of your purpose.

2. You need to invest time in self-training and development. This is different from going to school or attending church fellowships and programs. You need to deliberately train yourself for what you want to become. It may involve taking an additional academic program or discipleship training or exposure to some kind of apprenticeship. That is how you prepare to be qualified for your expected elevation.

3. You need to intentionally seek out people who are serious with their life and connect with them. Connect with people who motivate you. You did not have the opportunity to choose your parents or siblings. The only thing that is within your power to choose is your friends and you must not joke with it. That includes the church denomination you identify with and the person you relate with as a personal mentor or pastor. If the church you currently belong to is not building you up, child of God, walk out of that place. If the person you take as a mentor is not building you up, prayerfully seek out for someone better for yourself. When you get to heaven, you can explain.

4. You need to walk away from any relationship that is draining your energy spiritually or emotionally. You must not hate them before you walk away. You may need to walk away for awhile just to fix what was broken in your life. That includes people who refused to improve despite your years of investment in them. That also includes people who kept making promises to support you but never keep their words. When you walk away, you will free your mind to check out for new opportunities.

5. You must not let the pains from your past drain your energy or dampen your focus to where you are heading to. Like we learned from David, be thankful for them. Each time the devil throws thoughts from your past at you, cover them with thanksgiving. “I thank God for carrying me through all of these”.

6. You must be ready to serve in small things while you wait for the great things. David was anointed as king of Israel, but while waiting for the day he would be crowned, he kept taking care of his father’s sheep and carried food to his brothers in the battlefield.

7. You must be on the standby every moment because you do not know when the opportunity you have been praying for would come. David did not know that his connection with the king of Israel will come the day he was told to send some food to his brothers. He did not know that killing Goliath was the first step of the ladder to joining the mighty men in Isreal’s army.

8. You must not allow the opinions of those who do not understand what God is doing with you to push you out of God’s direction. Some give their opinions out of ignorance; some give their opinions out of envy in order to sabotage you, and there are those who weaponize misleading opinions to derail you. Only you know what God has told you in the private. Hold to them firmly.

I need to let you know that if you have read to this point in this meditation that you are almost ready to shake the world around you.
