Impotent Church; Impotent Spiritual Leadership 5

Impotent Church; Impotent spiritual Leadership 5
The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him.  A man in the crowd called out, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child.  A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him.  I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they could not."  "O unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here."  Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father. Luke 9:37-42NIV
Desperate cry but no help. If  it were possible today, many will just jump over many of us to make this kind of statement to Jesus. See how many posters and bill boards of great servants of Jesus littering all over our cities. Most of them laying claim to great anointing power. These claims are what really draw men to them but what do the seekers find? “I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they could not."  Even with begging, they cannot help. Even some of us charge them money, yet cannot help. Some sit in heaven-on-earth offices, yet are wretched.
Imagine how different they are to their master; their master was a man of prayer, they are political office seekers. Their master is compassionate but they seek their own interest. I have learnt through sad experience that most ministers are not asking where the Holy Spirit is leading them. What do they want to know then?
1.     Can you pay my air ticket?
2.     Will there be a large crowd there?
3.     What is the bank statement of the host-to-be? I don’t know about your country, some ministers in Nigeria ask boldly that they see your banking details before considering your invitation.
4.     How much can you afford as honorarium?
5.     Can you pay for a five star hotel?
Is it any surprise that they were in the valley when their master was stepping down from the mountain? Is it a surprise that they were so impotent and useless to that desperate seeker? Is it a surprise that all around them was noise and arguments?
Later they asked, “Why could we not cast it out?” Oh! That somebody will ask the question even now? Instead of mouthing empty boast words. Let a reader bow the head now before the shame comes. Anybody following this series already knows what I mean; some demons are cadets who flee at the slightest threat. But some will stay back and demand to know who speaks. “Jesus I know, Paul I know, but you, who are you?” You know what followed?
Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. Acts 19:16NIV
Which is better? To humble yourself now or be humbled by demons in the public?
Lord, please step into the problems of these desperate people even now. Please, Lord, intervene in their cases now. Direct them through your Holy Spirit to servants of yours who resemble you so that they will not misinterpreted it to mean that there is no more power in your Name
Again Lord show us our poverty, show us our emptiness, show us that we are disappointing you. Even those of us who are hiding our spiritual wretchedness, help us to learn what the scripture means by
He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Col 2:15NIV
Yes, let us know that even righteous Christ only triumphed when He made them public. Yes, Lord! That somebody will call me after now and say, “My brother I am wretched. Help!” Yes, Lord! That somebody will seek spiritual help by seeking counseling on how to escape from spiritual wretchedness.
Lord, this I ask on my knees in Jesus Name!
